The languagetool script is ready for testing: bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://github.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVED/raw/main/ct/languagetool.sh)"
API is available at http://<LXC_IP>:8081/v2.
Application doesn't come with n-gram data. If you wish to use that feature, please look at https://dev.languagetool.org/finding-errors-using-n-gram-data.html.
Note: This is not in the official repo yet—it's just a dev version! After merging into ProxmoxVE, it will need to be recreated.
Hello,
I just tested the LanguageTool installation script on my Proxmox VE setup, and it worked flawlessly. The entire process ran smoothly from start to finish, and the container was ready to use without any manual adjustments.
Great work on maintaining such a clean and reliable script. This is a fantastic addition to the collection — thank you for your effort and for keeping these tools up to date.
Could you give me a hint where I have to store the n-gram data?
Do I need to extract it into this Directory: /opt/LanguageTool/org/languagetool/resource/de
The directory path doesnt matter, put it wherever you want. Its 8GB download, hence not included.
You will need to follow instructions here: https://dev.languagetool.org/finding-errors-using-n-gram-data.html
I think easiest method will be adding languageModel= pointing to the directory of n-gram index to /opt/LanguageTool/server.properties

Would it make sense to provide this as an option to select during installation?

I ran into an error because I tried multiple languages. See here:
✔️ Setup Temurin JDK 21
⏳ Setting up LanguageTool Enter language code (en, de, es, fr, nl) to download ngrams or press ENTER to skip: en, de
✖️ Invalid language code: en, de
✔️ Setup LanguageTool
✔️ Created Service
I know it's not intended to do so. I suggest improving the script to specifically ask for a single language code and ask again if it's invalid.
@MickLesk the app has no GUI. The URL at the script end is pointing to the API address that you need to enter into chrome extension for example. Also their download server is extremely slow sometimes.
@AndrinS Added a check if the user entered more than one language code
According to the LanguageTool README, this is the last non-snapshot ZIP release:
"This is the last non-snapshot release of LT, i.e. there won't be a 6.7 release as a ZIP file. We're switching to daily snapshot releases, which are available at https://languagetool.org/download/snapshots/."
As far as I understand, this means future bug fixes and improvements will only be available via snapshots.
Would it make sense to switch the script to the snapshot builds, or is there a specific reason to stay on 6.6?

Hi, thank you for your work!
I noticed that the script currently downloads LanguageTool 6.6 from https://languagetool.org/download.
According to the LanguageTool README, this is the last non-snapshot ZIP release:
