Adds a command-line demo tool showcasing the package's networking utilities: DataOperation (synchronous requests), URLComponents.appendQueryItems (URL building), and protocol-based fetching.

Implementation

  • Executable target: BachandNetworkingDemo with fetch and query commands
  • Cross-platform: Conditional Combine imports for Linux compatibility (#if canImport(Combine))
  • Documentation: Usage guide in Sources/BachandNetworkingDemo/README.md

Usage

# Synchronous HTTP request with DataOperation
BachandNetworkingDemo fetch http://httpbin.org/get

# URL building with query parameters
BachandNetworkingDemo query http://httpbin.org/get name=Alice city=Seattle

Tests

12 new tests covering CLI commands, error handling, and URL building. Integration tests gracefully handle network unavailability.

Test command: swift test --enable-test-discovery

All 21 tests pass (9 existing + 12 new).

Platform Changes

  • Added FoundationNetworking imports for Linux URL types
  • Wrapped Combine-dependent URLSession extensions with #if canImport(Combine)
  • Fixed existing test fixtures for Linux URLResponse initialization

  • httpbin.org
    • Triggering command: .build/debug/BachandNetworkingDemo fetch REDACTED (dns block)
    • Triggering command: .build/debug/BachandNetworkingDemo query REDACTED name=John city=NYC (dns block)
    • Triggering command: /home/REDACTED/work/BachandNetworking/BachandNetworking/.build/debug/BachandNetworkingDemo fetch REDACTED (dns block)
