Social Share Tracker

A simple website demonstrating social media share buttons with backend tracking and an admin dashboard displaying share statistics with filtering and graphs.


Features

  • Front-end with 5 social share buttons: Facebook, X (Twitter), WhatsApp, Telegram, Email.
  • Clicking a share button opens the respective share dialogue and logs the share event in the database.
  • Admin backend page to view share statistics with filters (date range, platform).
  • Dynamic graphs displaying share counts per platform.
  • Flexible and easy to extend.

Requirements

  • PHP 8.x
  • Composer
  • Node.js & npm
  • MySQL or MariaDB
  • Web server (XAMPP or Laravel built-in server)

Installation and Setup

  1. Clone or download the repository

git clone https://github.com/azzatulhusnaa/-social-tracker.git cd social-share-tracker

If you don’t use Git, just download and extract the ZIP.

  1. Install PHP dependencies

composer install

  1. Install Node dependencies

npm install

  1. Build frontend assets

npm run dev

Leave this running if you want to watch for frontend changes:

npm run watch

  1. Setup environment

Copy the example environment file and update with your settings:

cp .env.example .env

Edit .env to set your database credentials and other environment-specific variables.

  1. Generate application key

php artisan key:generate

  1. Run database migrations

php artisan migrate

  1. Run the Laravel development server

php artisan serve

The app will be accessible at: http://localhost:8000
