Three findings from the live run prepared for the Community Benchmark discussion (#277), on the code #1341 added.
GUI / CLI / MCP / AeroAgent: the Protocol label and the signal kind are computed by the benchmark engine and the -i/--tui picker, so they reach the CLI tables, the JSON report and the MCP and AeroAgent tools that run the benchmark. The GUI shows a profile's class (E2E for Proton), not this label. The trash fixes are in the providers and the engine's cleanup, shared by every surface that runs the benchmark.
Proton's two clients, labelled for what they are
AeroFTP's own Proton Drive client came out as Protocol CLI with local 0 ms. The provider type's label is still CLI from when Proton went through the official CLI only, and #1341 read every CLI as a bridge on this machine, which is right only for MEGAcmd.
The engine now tells the client apart behind any crypt overlay (BenchmarkClient): AeroFTP's Proton client reads REST API; Proton's official CLI reads CLI; MEGAcmd and AeroFTP's MEGA client as before.
Only MEGAcmd, a loopback host or a Filen Desktop note is a local bridge. AeroFTP's Proton client answers stat from its in-memory tree (measured at 0.002 ms), so like AeroFTP's MEGA client it shows cache. Proton's official CLI reaches the service on every call, so it now gets signal bars.
The profile picker labels a Proton profile by its proton_mode the same way.
Proton CLI left every benchmark folder in its trash
Its recursive delete trashes the folder; the purge that followed looked up a path that no longer existed, answered Ok(false), and the report said nothing, for the run folder and each prefix folder alike (found in a live run on 2026-10-23). Proton CLI's delete_permanent captures the node UID of a live path, trashes it and purges exactly that item, so a provider can now declare that (purges_live_path), and the cleanup removes and purges in one step through it.
A trash the run cannot purge is said, not passed over
Ok(false) from delete_permanent means "no trash" by contract, so a provider that keeps a trash it cannot purge yet left the run's folders there without a word. A provider can now say so (trash_left_unpurged) and the report carries the sentence: Koofr and the Koofr preset over WebDAV, whose API empties the whole trash or nothing. A purge of a single Koofr item is tracked as Requested 92 on #1318.
Checks
Seen red before the fixes: each_client_gets_its_own_protocol_label_and_signal_kind, a_trash_the_run_cannot_purge_is_reported_not_passed_over, a_client_that_purges_a_live_path_leaves_nothing_in_the_trash (the trash held the run folder and both prefix folders), and the Proton cases of benchmark_identity_names_pcloud_drive_and_distinguishes_megacmd.
cargo test --lib -- benchmark providers::koofr providers::proton:: providers::webdav::: 279 passed. cargo test --bin aeroftp-cli benchmark: 6 passed. cargo fmt --all -- --check and cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean.
Three findings from the live run prepared for the Community Benchmark discussion (#277).
AeroFTP's own Proton Drive client was labelled `CLI` and shown as a local bridge (`local 0 ms`): the provider type's label is still `CLI` from the days of the official CLI only, and #1341 read every `CLI` as a bridge on this machine, which is right only for MEGAcmd. The run now tells the client apart behind any crypt overlay: AeroFTP's Proton client reads `REST API` and, like AeroFTP's MEGA client, answers metadata from its in-memory tree, so it shows `cache`; Proton's official CLI reads `CLI` and gets signal bars, since it reaches the service on every call; only MEGAcmd, a loopback host or a Filen Desktop note is a local bridge. The profile picker of `-i`/`--tui` labels Proton by its `proton_mode` the same way. The label is used by the benchmark only; the GUI shows the profile's class.
Proton's CLI left every benchmark folder in its trash while the report said nothing: its recursive delete trashes the folder, and the purge that followed looked up a path that was gone and answered `Ok(false)`. Its `delete_permanent` trashes and purges a live path by node UID, so a provider can now declare that (`purges_live_path`), and the cleanup then removes and purges in one step, for the run folder and the prefix folders alike.
A provider that keeps a trash it cannot purge yet now says so (`trash_left_unpurged`) and the report carries it, where `Ok(false)` from `delete_permanent` used to read as "no trash": Koofr and the Koofr preset over WebDAV, whose API empties the whole trash or nothing.
Tests seen red before the fixes: each_client_gets_its_own_protocol_label_and_signal_kind, a_trash_the_run_cannot_purge_is_reported_not_passed_over, a_client_that_purges_a_live_path_leaves_nothing_in_the_trash, and the Proton cases of benchmark_identity_names_pcloud_drive_and_distinguishes_megacmd.

The benchmark now classifies MEGA and Proton clients by endpoint type. Provider-specific cleanup handles scratch paths and successfully deleted workload files. The benchmark reports when deleted items remain in trash.

Client and endpoint classification src-tauri/src/community_benchmark/mod.rs, src-tauri/src/community_benchmark/engine.rs, src-tauri/src/bin/aeroftp_cli.rs, src-tauri/src/community_benchmark/tests.rs
The benchmark identifies MEGAcmd, native MEGA, Proton CLI, and native Proton clients. It derives access labels and endpoint flags from the client and endpoint context. CLI tests cover both Proton native option spellings and the missing-option case.
StorageProvider adds hooks for unpurged-trash notices and live-path purging. Proton CLI reports live-path purging. Koofr providers report that deleted items remain in Koofr trash. The compress and crypt overlays forward provider hooks. The crypt overlay also tries the directory path form when permanent deletion of the file path form fails.
Scratch-path cleanup and reporting src-tauri/src/community_benchmark/engine.rs, src-tauri/src/community_benchmark/tests.rs
The benchmark removes and purges scratch paths according to provider behavior, including cleanup retries. The many-files workload purges successfully deleted files outside the measured deletion timings. Tests cover unpurgeable trash, live-path cleanup, bounded and cancellable purging, and endpoint classification.

Purging a trashed file through an encrypted overlay in rclone off mode with a name suffix can permanently delete a live folder of the same name instead. Try the file form first, then the folder form, before merging. The benchmark purge pass is now bounded by a single deadline and the stop signal.

Explanation
The title "fix(benchmark): Proton labels, Proton CLI trash, unpurged trash" matches the main changes. The PR labels Proton's AeroFTP client as REST API and Proton's official CLI as CLI. It also adds Proton CLI live-path purging and reporting for trash that cannot be purged (Koofr and Koofr-over-WebDAV). The title is short and names the benchmark area. It is slightly terse, and it omits the many-files shared-deadline purge fix and the crypt-overlay folder-purge fix, but these are secondary to the title's scope.

What the review of #1353 found.
The two trash hooks this PR adds were not forwarded by the crypt and compress overlays, so a Koofr or Proton CLI profile behind either overlay lost its warning and its live-path purge. Both overlays now forward `trash_left_unpurged` and `purges_live_path`, and the compress overlay also forwards `delete_permanent`, which it never did: every purge behind compression was the trait's no-op.
The many-files workload left every file it deleted in the provider's trash, one item per file and up to 5 GiB per run, and purging the run folder later does not take them. After the measured delete-all pass, outside its timing, the run now purges each deleted file by its original path. A client that purges only a live path (Proton's CLI) or cannot purge (Koofr) leaves them there, and the report says how many files stay in the trash and why; failed purges are reported once, with their count and the first error.

Resolve live directories before permanent deletion.
When rclone off mode uses a suffix, map(path, false, ...) produces the file-form path. Proton CLI then returns Ok(false) for the suffixed directory path as not found. Benchmark cleanup treats that result as success, so the live directory remains undeleted.
Use map_existing for live-path purges.

What the second review of #1353 found.
The many-files purge had no limit: each `delete_permanent` had its own 120 s cleanup bound and the pass ignored the stop signal, so a server that stopped answering held the report two minutes per file, also after a Ctrl+C or the profile timeout. The pass now ends at one deadline (as long as delete-all took, plus one cleanup bound) and at the stop, and the report says how many of the deleted files were not purged and why.
Behind a crypt overlay in rclone `off` mode with a name suffix, `delete_permanent` addressed every target in file form, so a folder was purged as `name.bin`: Proton's CLI answered that nothing was there, the cleanup took it for done and the live folder stayed. A live target now resolves its real form first, and a target already gone from its path (purged by the path it had) is tried in folder form after the file form.
Tests seen red before the fixes: the_many_files_purge_ends_at_its_budget_not_one_bound_per_file, the_many_files_purge_ends_at_a_stop, off_mode_purge_reaches_a_directory_live_or_in_the_trash.

@coderabbitai About your outside-diff finding on src-tauri/src/crypt_overlay_provider.rs (delete_permanent in rclone off mode with a name suffix): fixed in f815e0c. A live target now resolves its real form through map_existing before delete_permanent, so a folder is purged as name and not as name.bin. A target already gone from its path, as when a provider purges from the trash by the path an item had, cannot be probed. For that case the folder form is tried after the file form returns Ok(false). Test that failed before the fix: off_mode_purge_reaches_a_directory_live_or_in_the_trash, which covers a live folder, a folder in the trash, a suffixed file in the trash, and a path that was never there.

Try the file form before selecting a live directory.
When a trashed file uses the suffixed wire path and a live directory uses the unsuffixed path, map_existing skips the trashed file and returns the live directory. delete_permanent can then purge the directory instead of the requested trash item.
The benchmark calls delete_permanent for each deleted workload file, so this path-based API can receive the ambiguous path. Try the file form first, then use the directory form only when the file-form purge returns false.

@axpnet Thanks. The inspected code matches your explanation. delete_permanent now uses map_existing for live targets. After Ok(false), it tries the directory form only if the resolved target was not a directory and the two forms differ.
The regression test covers all four reported cases. This addresses my outside-diff finding. I inspected the code and test assertions; I did not run the test.

Three findings from the live run prepared for the Community Benchmark discussion (#277), on the code #1341 added.
GUI / CLI / MCP / AeroAgent: the Protocol label and the signal kind are computed by the benchmark engine and the
-i/--tuipicker, so they reach the CLI tables, the JSON report and the MCP and AeroAgent tools that run the benchmark. The GUI shows a profile's class (E2Efor Proton), not this label. The trash fixes are in the providers and the engine's cleanup, shared by every surface that runs the benchmark.Proton's two clients, labelled for what they are
AeroFTP's own Proton Drive client came out as Protocol
CLIwithlocal 0 ms. The provider type's label is stillCLIfrom when Proton went through the official CLI only, and #1341 read everyCLIas a bridge on this machine, which is right only for MEGAcmd.BenchmarkClient): AeroFTP's Proton client readsREST API; Proton's official CLI readsCLI; MEGAcmd and AeroFTP's MEGA client as before.statfrom its in-memory tree (measured at 0.002 ms), so like AeroFTP's MEGA client it showscache. Proton's official CLI reaches the service on every call, so it now gets signal bars.proton_modethe same way.Proton CLI left every benchmark folder in its trash
Its recursive delete trashes the folder; the purge that followed looked up a path that no longer existed, answered
Ok(false), and the report said nothing, for the run folder and each prefix folder alike (found in a live run on 2026-10-23). Proton CLI'sdelete_permanentcaptures the node UID of a live path, trashes it and purges exactly that item, so a provider can now declare that (purges_live_path), and the cleanup removes and purges in one step through it.A trash the run cannot purge is said, not passed over
Ok(false)fromdelete_permanentmeans "no trash" by contract, so a provider that keeps a trash it cannot purge yet left the run's folders there without a word. A provider can now say so (trash_left_unpurged) and the report carries the sentence: Koofr and the Koofr preset over WebDAV, whose API empties the whole trash or nothing. A purge of a single Koofr item is tracked as Requested 92 on #1318.Checks
