Move workflow actions to Node 24 - #3
Conversation
GitHub now forces Node 20 actions onto Node 24 and warns on every run. Move each action to a release that targets Node 24, and pin ubuntu-latest to ubuntu-24.04 so the runner image does not change when ubuntu-latest moves to Ubuntu 26.04 on October 19, 2026.

The workflow uses

Thev*trigger also accepts tags that do not match the package version. Use tags in thev<package version>format, or update all release naming contracts together. official actions/checkout documentation persist-credentials default credentials stored local git config
💡 Result:
The official `actions/checkout` documentation says **`persist-credentials` defaults to `true`**. For checkout versions whose docs describe credentials as being stored in the local Git config, this lets scripts run authenticated Git commands; the credentials are removed during post-job cleanup. Set `persist-credentials: false` to opt out. ([github.com](https://github.com/actions/checkout/blob/main/README.md?utm_source=openai))
**Version caveat:** The current README notes that in `actions/checkout@v6`, credentials are stored in a separate file under `$RUNNER_TEMP`, rather than directly in `.git/config`. ([github.com](https://github.com/actions/checkout/blob/main/README.md?utm_source=openai))

Disable checkout credential persistence in all three release jobs.
actions/checkout@v7 persists credentials by default. Each job grants contents: write, so later build commands and actions can access a write-capable Git credential. The release step uses GH_TOKEN explicitly and does not need checkout credential persistence.
