Describe the bug

Running the buildHealth task fails with

* What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':downloader:findKotlinMagicFunTest' (registered by plugin 'com.autonomousapps.dependency-analysis').
> There was a failure while executing work items
   > A failure occurred while executing com.autonomousapps.tasks.FindKotlinMagicTask$Action
      > /home/sebastian/Development/GitHub/oss-review-toolkit/ort/downloader/build/classes/kotlin/test/org/ossreviewtoolkit/downloader/VcsHostTest$1$8$3.class (No such file or directory)

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Checkout https://github.com/oss-review-toolkit/ort/tree/plugin-api-compile-only
2. Run ./gradlew --scan buildHealth

Expected behavior

No "No such file or directory" error is thrown.

I can't reproduce this. I did the following:

1. git clone git@github.com:oss-review-toolkit/ort.git
2. cd ort
3. git checkout plugin-api-compile-only
4. (Cleanup/safety) rm gradlew; rm gradlew.bat; fd -ejar -x rm; gradle :wrapper --gradle-version 9.7.0 (also edited the local gradle-wrapper.properties file to remove the unnecessary-for-me checksum)
5. ./gradlew :downloader:findKotlinMagicFunTest—SUCCESS

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

I also can't reproduce the issue when running the :downloader:findKotlinMagicFunTest on its own. But I still can reproduce the issue when running ./gradlew --scan buildHealth. Though this time the findKotlinMagicFunTest task in another subproject failed:

To reproduce this, I had to use --rerun-tasks. The exact failure I saw was:

   > A failure occurred while executing com.autonomousapps.tasks.FindKotlinMagicTask$Action
      > /Users/tony/development/tmp/ort/plugins/package-managers/maven/build/classes/kotlin/test/org/ossreviewtoolkit/plugins/packagemanagers/maven/tycho/DependencyTreeParserTest$1$1$1.class (No such file or directory)

However, that file does exist:

Still investigating.

So, proximally, it's the :plugins:package-managers:maven-package-manager:compileTestKotlin task that results in those class files being created. That task is not a dependency of the task that's failing (:plugins:package-managers:maven-package-manager:findKotlinMagicFunTest in my case).

I'm now wondering why a class file from the test source set is being taken as an input to the funTest sources without actually being wired as an input. I've looked over your convention plugins and nothing seems amiss in this regard.

Superficially, it looks like it might be a result of this PR, the new src/main/kotlin/com/autonomousapps/internal/ArtifactsExpander.kt class.

Edit: can't seem to validate that idea.

Hm, could you re-test on latest (3.19.1 at time of writing)? To debug and iterate faster, I added this plugin as an included build to your project, and can no longer reproduce the error.
