Summary

Supersedes #420 and #421 with a coordinated dependency upgrade. Both individual updates fail because Hmac<Sha256> combines incompatible versions of the RustCrypto digest traits when only one dependency is upgraded.

  • Upgrade hmac from 0.12.1 to 0.13.0 and sha2 from 0.10.9 to 0.11.1 (the latest compatible patch release), so both use digest 0.11.
  • Import hmac::KeyInit, which is required for new_from_slice with the new API.
  • Update the lockfile without changing Dependabot configuration or the Rust 1.88.0 MSRV.

Validation

All local checks passed on macOS:

  • just test (workspace builds, tests, and doctests, including existing HTTP authentication coverage)
  • CARGO_TARGET_DIR=target/msrv cargo +1.88.0 check --workspace --all-targets --all-features --locked
  • cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features --locked -- -D warnings
  • cargo fmt -- --check
  • git diff --check

The Linux feature-powerset and WASM/WASI checks are left to CI.
