Not working in android version > 13

Like the title, my app gets an issue that Android 13 is working fine but Android 14 and 15 make the app stop holding on my screen to send upload files. My react-native version is 0.64.4.

To the folks asking whether this is still maintained or if there's a fork that works: I hit the same thing on Android 13+ and eventually stopped trying to patch it. The library isn't maintained and it doesn't run on the New Architecture, which is where a lot of these background service failures come from now.

I ended up writing a replacement called ferrykit. On Android it runs a foreground service plus WorkManager so it doesn't trip the newer background-start restrictions, uploads keep going if the app gets killed, and downloads resume instead of starting over.

Usual caveat, it's new (v0.1), so test it on your own devices before shipping. If you want to switch there's a migration guide from this library:
