Brief

Captured GitHub Actions failure logs live outside the normal checks snapshot component, so existing cache searches could not find their error text.

Changes

This adds an offline ci_logs source with frozen capture selection and verified citations.

  • Discover saved captures for selected PR snapshots within explicit limits.
  • Freeze immutable capture references when indexing. Query and retrieval verify source content, PR head, check/run/attempt/job identity and original ranges.
  • Preserve raw citation bytes while neutralizing ANSI escapes for search. Keep partial captures, omitted regions and unsupported content explicit.
  • Support the pr-checks corpus profile.
  • Return snapshot counts by default in cache-info.v2, with bounded ID pages and checksum-bound continuations. This includes the metadata pagination work from Bound cache-info snapshot IDs; add pagination #4 and changes the previous default full-list response.
  • Remove obsolete proposal bridge/patch copies and point documentation to triage-o-mator’s maintained bridge. Replace compatibility-script rewriting with an explicit pre-index expectation.

Validation

Reposition’s 89-test suite completed with five optional-extra skips; Ruff passed.

All 77 parent tests passed with the exact wheel, including capture-to-ranked-retrieval coverage.

Independent offline wheel rebuild and compatibility checks passed.

A disposable saved-CI trial verified exact citations, frozen selection and corruption refusal with zero GitHub requests.

The current version identifies the downstream build vendored by triage-o-mator. Local-verification notes and reports remain outside this change.

This keeps retrieval offline and source-bound while making the maintained integration more useful: bounded metadata pages, checksum-bound continuations, and frozen CI failure captures with verifiable raw ranges. The pagination commit from #4 is included here.

I added three bounded review fixes directly to this branch:

  • Reject an explicitly contradictory or non-integer run_attempt in job and attempt-membership metadata, while preserving legacy packets where it is absent.
  • Place short excerpts around ANSI-colored matches without changing raw citation bytes, UTF-8 offsets or hashes. Added a distant-match regression with multibyte text.
  • Correct links to triage-o-mator's existing master branch.

Validation: all 89 Reposition tests and Ruff pass; all four hosted CI jobs pass. Wheel/source packaging checks, clean-wheel smoke tests, and offline compatibility against triage-o-mator e020fefe3a0b899c9dd7b87072cd4e2139f4c46a also pass. The compatibility run made zero GitHub requests and left source evidence unchanged. The candidate wheel was repinned only in a disposable parent checkout; triage-o-mator's published vendor bundle is unchanged and needs a separate refresh to pick up these fixes.

All 79 parent workflow tests pass with that exact candidate wheel after restoring omitted sparse-checkout fixtures and correcting a nondeterministic test selection in the disposable checkout. The original CI-log corruption test selected an arbitrary snapshot pointer; it now selects the queried snapshot for this run. That test defect is tracked in triage-o-mator#10. The inherited native attempt-validation gap is tracked separately in triage-o-mator#9. Neither disposable parent change is included in this PR.

Thanks for the thorough integration work. Ready to merge.
