Summary

Optimizes performance by:

  • Removing unnecessary/slow packages
  • Migrate to Rolldown-Vite and Oxc
    • Traditionally, Vite has used two bundlers: esbuild in dev, rollup in prod
      • esbuild is insanely fast, but only is good for dev as it spilts the bundles into small files, while rollup has been used for production as esbuild is not recommended for production and would cause performance issues by requesting too much small bundles
    • Rolldown is an Rust rewrite of Rollup, thus we get the same benefits for both dev and prod builds
    • In addition, Oxc tooling is used, esp. for transformers. Oxc's transformer now is used instead of SWC, which should also help with performance
