Switch the Android beta page to the open test - #167
Conversation
Anyone with a Google account can now opt in on the Play testing page and install from the Play listing, so the Google Group step is gone. The notice no longer claims Google waits for 12 testers over 14 days; it says Premium is free during the beta. The release status calls it an open beta.

The Android beta is now also an open test on Google Play (version code 6), so anyone with a Google account can join without the Google Group.
/android: step 1 opts in on the Play testing page, step 2 opens the Play listing. The Google Group step and the "opens once the beta starts" fallback are gone.Merge only after Google approved the open test release and the open testing track is resumed in the Play Console. Until then the testing page does not let people outside the Google Group in.
