[ I think it's important to make it clear that the crash that this firmware is claimed to fix only affects usage as an AP (i.e. hotspot mode) ] Although I appreciate your efforts in debugging this issue and finding a solution, I don't think there's any way that we would be able to accept a firmware which didn't come directly from Infineon/Cypress. But for anyone who downloads this file themselves, does this provide full WPA3 support with the current RPiOS release, or is some other change required? |

There is no other change required. It works fine out of the box. It could use a bit of further polishing at kernel level but those modifications are not essential. I fully understand your position. Maybe Infineon will provide a firmware update eventually. Good luck convincing them :) Feel free to reject this pull request. I've changed the readme to explain the new firmware and encourage the use of official firmware. They are also planning to provide some upstream kernel patches to set some iovars, which I suggested (not essential though, without the iovars the firmware is more permissive in what it forwards to the driver, but the driver with handle authentication properly anyway). |
Add a fixed firmware that properly handles WPA3 connections. It is based on the following latest version available from Infineon:
BCM4345/6 wl0: Oct 28 2024 23:27:00 version 7.45.286 (be70ab3 CY) FWID 01-95efe7fa
Details of the bug it fixes: raspberrypi/linux#7528
