Problem

Growth wants to know what people set PostHog up for when an agent (the wizard, an MCP client, a provisioning partner) starts the signup. The AI prompt follow-up gets this from people who type an AI referral, but the person who clicks through an agent's signup rarely remembers the exact task, and the agent that has it cannot send it.

Changes

  • An agent can add goal to the /oauth/authorize URL it passes as next. The signup form and the social signup confirm form then show the AI prompt field prefilled with it. The person can edit or clear it.
  • The agentic provisioning API reads configuration.goal and records it as referral_source_ai_prompt on user signed up.
  • The goal is capped at 1000 characters and kept in sessionStorage only until signup succeeds, so a social signup round trip keeps it.

The wizard side is PostHog/wizard#1500.

How did you test this code?

Agent-run: Jest for agentSignupGoal, SignupReferralSource and signupLogic; pytest for the provisioning signup event tests; oxfmt, oxlint and ruff on changed files. No manual browser test, and no full frontend typecheck run locally.

Test rationale: New unit tests cover reading the goal (path, origin, cap, storage) and the forced AI follow-up; the provisioning test covers trim, cap and non-string goals next to the existing signup event test.

An agent that sends a person to sign up can pass `goal` on the /oauth/authorize URL it uses as `next`. The eager set is the entry plus everything statically imported from it — fetched before any feature runs; deferred chunks load lazily. The eager guardrail is 5.72 MiB. Each output file must also stay below 10 MB, where CloudFront stops compressing it. The module boundary is enforced separately by check-toolbar-graph.

fix(signup): scope the cached agent goal to its signup attempt

A page with a `next` belongs to the attempt that URL names, so its goal (or lack of one) now replaces the sessionStorage cache instead of falling back to it. An abandoned agent signup's goal no longer leaks into a later, unrelated signup in the same tab. Only a page without `next` (the social-provider return) reads the cache.
