fix(desktop): report unreachable GitHub as unavailable in viewerGithub - #9174
viewerGithub.* queries in the desktop main process report every network failure to GitHub (connection reset, DNS failure, connect timeout) to Sentry as an unhandled bug. Each address variant groups separately, so this family keeps opening new issues.
Root cause
On a transport failure, Octokit's fetchWrapper throws a RequestError with a synthetic status 500 and cause → TypeError: fetch failed → the coded Node error. githubErrorCode maps 500 to INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR. The desktop tRPC Sentry middleware reports every INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR, and its contract says to fix the translation at the throw site. GitHub never answered, so this is a misclassification, not a server error.
Fix
In onGithub, classify with the existing isGitHubUnreachableError from host-service (it already walks the cause chain for these codes). Map a match to SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE, and keep githubErrorCode for everything else. githubErrorCode itself does not change, because the cloud API also uses it. The renderer branches only on PRECONDITION_FAILED, so the UI copy does not change. One side effect: the renderer's default query retry (hostServiceQueryRetry in ElectronTRPCProvider) retries SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE up to 3 times, so these reads now retry like other connection-level failures. A one-off reset recovers on its own. A truly unreachable GitHub now takes up to about 44 s to show its error (4 × 10 s connect timeout) instead of about 10 s. Mutations do not retry. The github-search path already maps unreachable GitHub to SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE the same way. TLS-interception errors (self-signed certificate) are deliberately not in the classifier and still report.
Verification
bun test src/lib/trpc/routers/viewer-github (apps/desktop): new test failed before the change (Received: TRPCError: read ECONNRESET code INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR), passes after — 4 pass, 0 fail, 8 expect() calls. Negative case: a real GitHub 500 response stays INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR.
bunx biome check <3 files>: Checked 3 files in 26ms. No fixes applied.
bun run typecheck in apps/desktop and packages/host-service: both tsc --noEmit clean.
Octokit wraps transport failures (reset, DNS, connect timeout) in a
RequestError with a synthetic status 500, which githubErrorCode mapped to
INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR and the tRPC Sentry middleware reported as a bug.
Classify them at the throw site with the existing host-service classifier.

Walkthrough
The host-service package exports isGitHubUnreachableError. The viewer GitHub router uses it to map recognized errors to SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE. Tests check this classification against a plain status-500 error.

Summary
Export and apply GitHub availability classification packages/host-service/src/index.ts, apps/desktop/src/lib/trpc/routers/viewer-github/index.ts, apps/desktop/src/lib/trpc/routers/viewer-github/index.test.ts
The host-service package exports isGitHubUnreachableError. The router maps recognized errors to SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE and retains githubErrorCode for other errors. Tests check the classification of errors with and without a nested ECONNRESET cause.
Direct tests may fail on a fresh checkout, and some repository-not-found responses may be reported as GitHub outages. Address both before merging.

Import the classifier through a lightweight host-service subpath.
The package-root import loads createApp and its application dependency graph. That graph reaches @superset/i18n, whose entrypoint imports the untracked generated catalog locales/en/messages. A fresh direct desktop test can fail before the viewer-GitHub tests run. Export the classifier separately and import that subpath.

Preserve GraphQL response errors before matching transport text.
For an inaccessible repository named owner/getaddrinfo, GitHub can return a NOT_FOUND GraphQL error containing that name. Octokit includes the response message in the error, so the detector matches getaddrinfo and returns SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE instead of NOT_FOUND. (github.com)
Classify GraphQL response errors before applying the transport-text matcher.
