Closing: Vitest 5 requires Node ^22.12 || ^24 || >=26 while CI runs Node 20, and its API changes break the current test setup. The docs plan was to land vitest 3 (the advisory-gate major), not 5. Will be superseded by a manually opened vitest 3 upgrade PR.
