Deprecates the existing single CagraIndex.Builder, which accepts incompatible parameters and sources, and replaces it with four builders, one per index source, each accepting only the parameters that apply to that source. The old Builder now rejects incompatible inputs that it previously ignored silently. When no index parameters are given, both the deprecated and the new builders now use the CagraIndexParams.Builder defaults. The new fromSerialized leaves the stream open, which is more idiomatic for Java, while the deprecated from(InputStream) still closes it. Fixes NVIDIA#2672

Show dataset cleanup when a build fails. These examples remove automatic matrix cleanup, but fromDataset transfers ownership only after build() succeeds. A failed build leaves each matrix caller-owned and open.

Track dataset ownership until build() succeeds.
fromDataset(CuVSMatrix) leaves ownership with the caller when build() throws. writeCagraIndex does not close dataset on that path, so a failed CAGRA build can leak native memory before the brute-force fallback runs.
Use the existing Utils.ownDataset(dataset) pattern and call ownedIndex.transferTo(index) immediately after build() succeeds. This closes the dataset on build failure and the index after successful use. The fallback is conditional on Utils.handleThrowableWithIgnore returning.

@imotov, thanks for clarifying. The dataset-ownership issue predates this PR, and the fix is planned under #2670. I won’t request a fix in this PR.

Changes overall look good to me. However, I had a comment about the builder interface design.

We are now creating new source specific builders but not making this clear in the top level interface since they are hidden behind methods on the generic builder. Did you consider methods that make the new builder types directly visible e.g. newDatasetBuilder(), newGraphBuilder(), newSerializedBuilder(), etc?
This would also provide a cleaner deprecation boundary i.e. deprecate the generic newBuilder() entry point and its returned type instead of individual builder methods.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Yes, that was one of the first approaches I considered, along with several others, but in the end I went with this one. The problem is that each entry point on CagraIndex has to reach the implementation through CuVSProvider. Deprecating newBuilder/Builder as a whole would mean adding one provider method per source. That's four new SPI methods, each a default that throws UOE, and every wrapper, such as FilterCuVSProvider, has to forward them. That in turn leads to a number of other potential issues and makes migrating from the current builders more complicated. So, after experimenting with it for a while, I decided to keep newBuilder(res) and add the fromSomething methods to it. That's also more consistent with the other builders in the project, which all start from newBuilder(res).
