v8-engine

A 3D-printable V8 engine, built with solid-node.

NOTE: This was vibecoded as demo and hasn't been printed by the author

Goal

Make a functional demonstration model of a V8 engine: when you turn the crankshaft, the model shows how a V8 actually works — eight pistons in two banks of four at 90°, connecting rods on a common crankshaft with crank pins phased for even firing, and a camshaft-driven valvetrain opening intake and exhaust valves in time with each cylinder's four-stroke cycle.

Every part is designed to be printable on an ordinary FDM printer and assembled without glue where possible. The mechanism is the point: parts carry contract tests over their meshes (fits, clearances, timing), and the web viewer animates the whole engine through its cycle.

Usage

solid develop root

Then open http://localhost:8000 in your browser.

To run the tests for a node:

solid test root/<node>.py
