Massachusetts is divided into **21 registry disctricts**. Each district has a **Register of Deeds** that records all documents about property ownership.

To find out who owns the property you live in, you can start by going to the [Massachusetts Land Records website](https://www.masslandrecords.com/)
and selecting the district where the property is located. You will then be able to search for the property using the district's registry website.
**Most registry sites should let you search for documents using the property's address**.

You may also find useful information on how to get property records from municipal assessors through the [Massachusetts government website](https://www.mass.gov/news/finding-your-property-records).
