I’ve tried many note-taking apps over the years, but one thing always frustrated me. Finding the important information was harder than it should be. The search just wasn’t good enough.
So I built RememberLi. Instead of adding more and more features, I focused on simplicity. A simple UI, a simple markup language and a powerful search engine.
| Platform | Format | Link |
|---|---|---|
| macOS (Apple Silicon) | DMG | Download .dmg |
| Linux | Debian | Download .deb |
| Linux | AppImage | Download .AppImage |
| Windows | MSI | Download .msi |
| Windows | Installer | Download .exe |
macOS users: Since RememberLi is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate, macOS will block the app on first launch. To allow it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the RememberLi message. Alternatively, use the install script below, which does this for you.
Installs the latest Apple Silicon build into /Applications and clears the Gatekeeper quarantine flag automatically:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/KlausSchaefers/rememberli/main/scripts/install-mac.sh | bashThe app is built around three main concepts:
- A simple markup language that supports to highlight important elements in a note and help you to find the right notes.
- A powerful search engine that allows you to find and filter all your notes. It support magic commands like ":due", ":todo" "#tag" or "@person" search with smart auto complete.
- Notes are taken in a chronological order and this order is perserved, even when you filter the list of Notes with the search function.
In addition, you can also set reminders. When a note is due, it will be indicated with a red bar.
RememberLi supports the following markups that make it easy for you to organize your notes:
- @name: Create a @person markup
- #tag: Create a and #tag markup
- []: Create a open task checkbox
- [X]: Create on closed markup checkbox
- ->: Create an arrow
- ``` ``` For code
RememberLi ships with a lightweight local AI built right in. It automatically recognizes the concepts hiding in your notes and turns them into tags, so your notes organize themselves as you write. Want more control? Tell it exactly which concepts and entity types to look for in the settings. Special thanks to the GLiNER project for their awesome work!
Note: enabling the AI downloads a small model to your computer the first time you turn it on.
Notes shouldn't just describe your workflows — they should run them. Drop in a code snippet, add placeholders to make it reusable, and execute it with a single click, right where you wrote it.
New: Your notes are more connected than you think. The Knowledge Graph visualizes the relationships between your tags and people, and you can toggle a second view showing how notes themselves link to concepts — turning a flat list of notes into a map of your knowledge.
Before getting started, make sure you have the following installed:
- Node.js (v16 or later)

- Platform-specific dependencies for Tauri (see Tauri Prerequisites)
Install dependencies:
npm installStart the development server:
npm run tauri devnpm run build:webThis will start both the Vite development server for the frontend and launch the Tauri application.
To create a production build:
#mac os
npm run tauri build
