DnsClientX.Tests/ResolveDnsServerFallbackTests.csDnsClientX/DnsClientX.QueryDnsRequest.csDnsClientX/DnsClientX.QueryDnsStreaming.cs
Included review availability: This review used your included allowance. Your plan provides up to 10 included reviews per hour; 5 remain after this review.
DnsClientX could return unaged or overlong cached responses, admit an entire streaming batch before its first result, and leave unfinished queries running when the consumer stopped. PowerShell query/service output and pipeline binding also made common workflows harder to use, while CLI explanation text broke JSON output.
This change corrects those contracts and exposes the same core behavior across C#, PowerShell and the CLI:
Compatibility: PowerShell answer and service arrays now enter the pipeline as individual rows; use
-FullResponsefor the DNS envelope. CLI resolver inputs query directly unless--probeor--benchmarkis selected. Framework-dependent CLI archives containDnsClientX.Cli.exeon Windows orDnsClientX.Clion Linux/macOS and require the matching .NET 8 runtime. Older score snapshots remain readable, but missing execution context cannot support health/latency regression conclusions. Health profiles reject duplicate executions; combined benchmark profiles also reject different configurations with the same display label before sending queries. Probe-only profiles preserve those distinct settings.Validation: buffered and streamed deadline, cancellation, retry and mixed-result regressions pass on .NET 8/10, including the standalone workflow branch. The combined implementation also passes both full modern suites, legacy compilation, the actual unsigned module ZIP and fresh package-only consumers. Hosted qualification covers Windows .NET Framework 4.7.2, all three modern desktop platforms, Windows PowerShell 5.1, minimum PowerShell 7.4, package-only consumers and six CLI archives. Only each runner's native CLI architecture is executed. Independent resolver interoperability, wider native QUIC qualification and public package publication remain separate work.
