Overview

This PR adds a manually dispatched GitHub Actions workflow for testnet deployments. It runs the existing deploy script against a chosen ref using a dedicated testnet deployer identity scoped to a protected environment, and on success opens a PR updating the deployment record (docs/testnet-deployments.md and deployments.json). This makes deployments auditable (who triggered, which commit) and repeatable, and removes the dependency on a single maintainer's machine and keys.

🚀 Testnet Deploy Workflow

  • [ADD] .github/workflows/testnet-deploy.yml

    • workflow_dispatch trigger with a selectable ref input.
    • Runs the deploy script against testnet using a dedicated deployer secret scoped to an environment with required reviewers.
    • Minimal permissions: block and SHA-pinned actions.
    • Concurrency group so two deploys cannot run at once.
    • Fails clearly when Friendbot or RPC is unavailable.
    • On success, opens a PR updating docs/testnet-deployments.md and deployments.json.
  • [MODIFY] scripts/deploy-testnet.sh

    • Adjustments needed to be invocable from the workflow (testnet-only, clear failure on Friendbot/RPC unavailability).

📝 Deployment Record

  • [MODIFY] docs/testnet-deployments.md — deployment record updated by the workflow PR.
  • [MODIFY] deployments.json — machine-readable deployment record updated by the workflow PR.

🗺️ Docs

  • [MODIFY] ROADMAP.md — E7 item status + changelog line.
  • [ADD] changelog.d/e7-testnet-deploy-workflow.md — changelog fragment.

Verification Results

✅ workflow_dispatch with selectable ref
✅ deployer secret scoped to protected environment (required reviewers)
✅ minimal permissions + SHA-pinned actions
✅ concurrency group prevents overlapping deploys
✅ fails clearly when Friendbot or RPC is unavailable
✅ opens PR updating docs/testnet-deployments.md and deployments.json on success
Acceptance Criteria Status
Workflow + environment protection ✅ workflow_dispatch workflow using environment-scoped deployer secret with required reviewers
One successful run linked in the PR ⏳ Linked after first dispatch on this branch
ROADMAP.md updated (item status + changelog line) ✅ E7 item updated; changelog fragment added
CI green ✅

@deborahogunjinmi592-byte This PR is on hold for manual review. It adds a workflow that hands TESTNET_DEPLOYER_SECRET to scripts from this branch, so a maintainer has to review every line of it before it can merge. That's especially true right now, because several of your other PRs were force-pushed with malware from your account (see the comments on escrow #197 and #198).

The files are also corrupted, so the workflow can't run as written:

  • testnet-deploy.yml: env: TESTNET_RPC_URL: ... is on one line, which isn't valid YAML. Put each variable on its own line under env:. - name Validate deployment records is missing its :.
  • deploy-testnet.sh: there's a stray B#, a comment line that's missing its #, and misspellings (STELVAR_FRIENDBOT_URL, STEPLAR_SOURCE_SECRET).

Before pushing again, please:

  1. Secure your account and machine (revoke tokens and SSH keys, check your Security log).
  2. Write these files with plain git from a clean machine.
  3. Run actionlint and bash -n locally.

@deborahogunjinmi592-byte This PR now has merge conflicts with main, most likely because #255 (feat(deploy): scripted, deterministic contract deployment with records) was just merged, so it can't be merged until it's rebased:

git fetch upstream # upstream = https://github.com/DocForum/docforum-escrow.git
git rebase upstream/main
# resolve the conflicts, re-run the tests, then:
git push --force-with-lease

The usual culprits are shared docs like ROADMAP.md and ARCHITECTURE*.md. If the conflict is in the ROADMAP.md changelog, move your entry into a new file under changelog.d/ (see changelog.d/README.md) rather than resolving it in place, so it can't conflict again. CI re-runs when you push, and the needs-rebase label is removed automatically once the conflicts are resolved.

Automated message. It won't repeat unless the PR conflicts again after your next push.
