The build explicitly selects C++17 and Unicode. Filesystem paths and names remain wide strings through the MFC UI and Windows shell actions. Treemap names keep the classic Small Fonts face where it supports their characters and use an installed Unicode font for unsupported scripts. Live updates run at most every 250 ms and skip unchanged scans. Failed roots are reported as errors; unreadable or depth-limited subtrees produce a non-modal partial-result notice. Partial whole-drive scans also show an “Unavailable (estimate)” treemap block for the unaccounted volume-used space.
