馃悰 Bug: Search functionality is case-sensitive
Description
The current search functionality appears to be case-sensitive. Users searching with different letter cases (e.g., lowercase instead of uppercase) do not receive the expected matching results, which affects the overall user experience.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open the application.
- Navigate to the page containing the search functionality.
- Search for an existing item using lowercase letters (e.g.,
math).
- Compare the results with searching using the original case (e.g.,
Math).
Expected Behavior
The search should be case-insensitive, returning the same matching results regardless of whether the user enters uppercase, lowercase, or mixed-case text.
Actual Behavior
The search returns different or no results when the input case does not exactly match the stored data.
Impact
- Reduces usability and discoverability of study plans/tasks.
- Users may incorrectly assume the searched item does not exist.
- Creates an inconsistent search experience.
Suggested Fix
Normalize both the search query and the searchable data before comparison by converting them to a common case (e.g., using toLowerCase() or toUpperCase()). This ensures consistent matching regardless of user input.
Additional Information
- Browser: Chrome (latest)
- Device: Desktop
- Priority: Medium
