Introduction
• The 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connectors are notorious for their flammability.
• The ASUS ROG ASTRAL implementation of RTX 5090 monitors voltage and current
flowing through connector pins.
This project provides a native Linux implementation of the current monitoring
functionality of ASUS ROG ASTRAL devices. The support is currently limited to
ROG-ASTRAL-RTX5090-O32G devices.
• The bin/susm binary implements a simple monitor.
• The bin/susd binary implements a simple daemon that attempts to reduce the
power draw when it detects either overload on any of the connectors pins or
when there is a significant mismatch between individual wires.
Fork Additions
• Desktop notifications via notify-send (-n flag)
• Dry-run mode to disable throttling actions (-d flag)
• MQTT metrics for Home Assistant integration
Example usage:
susd -n -d Notify only, no throttling
susd -n Notify and throttle
susd Throttle only (original behavior)
MQTT Metrics
Optionally publish aggregated metrics to an MQTT broker for long-term tracking
in Home Assistant or similar. Data is buffered in-memory and flushed at the
configured interval. Graceful shutdown (SIGTERM/SIGINT) flushes before exit.
Flags:
--mqtt-broker MQTT broker URL (e.g., tcp://localhost:1883)
--mqtt-user MQTT username
--mqtt-pass MQTT password
--mqtt-prefix Topic prefix (default: susd)
--metrics-interval Flush interval (default: 5m)
Example usage:
susd -d -n --mqtt-broker tcp://localhost:1883 --mqtt-user user --mqtt-pass pass
Published metrics (per device, per interval):
• GPU power (avg, max)
• Connector match ratio (avg, min)
• Per-pin voltage, current, power (avg, max) for all 6 pins
• Alert count
Home Assistant autodiscovery configs are published on connect, so sensors
appear automatically.
