The unit test host peaks near 8 GB, mostly in Tests.Convenience #1883

Description

@Rafael-SOWNet

The unit test host peaks near 8 GB on master. Measured on 790feec (net10.0, Release), as the test host's resident memory:

Run Peak
whole suite 7,947 MB (killed by a local 8 GB guard in one of two runs)
FullyQualifiedName~Tests.Convenience 5,832 MB in 16 s
DocumentationExamplesRunTest alone 2,505 MB
everything except Tests.Convenience about 1.9 GB
Tests.Calculus 1,763 MB

So most of it comes from Tests.Convenience. On a machine with less memory, or a CI runner with a lower limit, the whole run can be killed mid-way, and vstest still prints Passed! over the tests that finished.

What I'd expect: the suite should stay well under a few GB, or the tests that need that much should say why.

    Fixed by #1920 (271152e). It collects the compilations of the documented examples while DocumentationExamplesRunTest runs. Peak resident memory of the test host, net10.0 Release, measured on one machine:

    run 790feec 03b1aa7 (just before #1920) 271152e (#1920) master 8a1ef45
    DocumentationExamplesRunTest 6,143 MB 2,011 MB 571 MB 567 MB
    Tests.Convenience 5,621 MB ~630 MB
    whole suite 2,302 MB

    Found by bisecting the docs test's peak. The commits before #1920 range from 2.0 to 6.1 GB from run to run, and every commit after it stays near 570 MB. Of the 2.3 GB the whole suite now peaks at, Tests.Calculus alone peaks at 1,531 MB on master.
