Regarding self-contained nodejs installer:

In my case py-pglite works just fine with https://pypi.org/project/nodejs-wheel/
installed.

Unlike
https://pypi.org/project/nodejs-bin/
which provides too old nodejs.

Maybe consider adding nodejs-wheel as an extra?
