Add fact for default gateway

Hello everyone,

In preparation for updating a Puppet module to support a custom routing mechanism, I looked for a fact showing the default gateway of a system. However, I could not find one.

On modern Linux systems, the installed routes can be obtained with the following command:

Luckily, the JSON format makes working with these routes in Ruby code easy.

Is there any chance of getting this implemented?

Maybe this could be provided by openfact rather than in a module? That feels something that is part of networking.

This can be probably be retrieved from netstat -rn on most platforms, Linux systems may be able to use the above mechanism in case netstat is not installed anymore. Windows has probably the information in the ipconfig output.

Yes, this should be added to openfact. The resolution for the networking.primary fact actually works based on the default route: https://github.com/OpenVoxProject/openfact/blob/main/lib/facter/util/resolvers/networking/primary_interface.rb

I attempted to add an IPv6 version of networking.primary in puppetlabs/facter#2241.
