Topic: Icons, UI, and Utilities #569

Description

@jqackkk

Hello everyone! For those of you who do not know me by my GitHub user, my discord is parisakajack.

I have begun designing macOS Catalina style icons for the system that are unique, but still have that flair of Catalina. The guidelines I have made for them are below:

1: Every icon must be framed within a 1024px by 1024px canvas to ensure all app icons are the same size and have the same spacing and padding throughout.
2: There will be 3 DOCK icon shapes across the system, including a tilted rectangle (at 9º), a circle, and a regular landscape rectangle, akin to Catalina's official shapes derived from OS X Yosemite.
3: The way these icons will differ will reside mainly in their use of shadows and gradients to convey both a modern flair and tactility of the icon. The icons will look as if you could hold them, touch them, and interact with them physically, but will be flat and modern enough to look pleasing on your desktop (and not make your computer look ages old ((in a bad way))). This design, even though their probably is already a name out there for it, will be dubbed "Fleuomorphism" (Fl from Flat, euomorphism from Skeuomorphism), a term I created because I'm super creative.
4: These icons should only contain at most 3 gradients per layer to ensure consistency.
5: The apps will all have a dark mode icon variant.

I have also begun looking at system icons and vector SVGs, and have decided that Google's Material Symbols should do the trick (I'd love to use SF but their licensing is absolute bogus). I'm using the 300px weight variant.

Finally, I am almost done with the design of the system interfaces (including font, weights, scales, graphics, animations, and more), so when time comes to layer everything that has been designed onto the shell provided from the awesome developers, they won't have to do a whole bunch of work to get there.

Please let me know what you think about this! I'm looking forward to contributing to this project even more, and would like to get outside opinions on the changes, guidelines, and styles I have proposed.
