On the Select validation example, if you select the last option after having selected another one before you will get a validation error as if the value was empty.

Steps to reproduce

• Go to the Select validation example.
• Select any option first.
• Then select the last option and try to submit the form. You will get a validation error as if it was empty.

This also happens on the official Combobox validation example. It looks like the issue is with how modular-forms validation interacts with the hidden native select element. I am not sure why it only happens on the last element, but as a workaround, you could explicitly add the value attributes like this:

<Select.Root value={field.value}>
// or
<Combobox.Root value={field.value}>

Adding those attributes fixes the issue. But this feels like a temporary fix. The props passed into <Select.HiddenNativeSelect {...props} /> or <Combobox.HiddenNativeSelect {...props} />should probably handle this state syncing automatically without the extra boilerplate.
