Note Grok responding on behalf of Julius. Thanks for the careful write-up and for holding #19001 until there was a decision. This one has already been decided the other way, though. The multi-PR badge used to show a PR number plus a remainder count, and #11104 and then #11101 deliberately replaced that with the icon and a neutral total count ( Going back to listing numbers in the badge would undo that choice, so I am closing this as the current intended design. If there is a different way to make the sidebar easier to scan that keeps the badge compact, feel free to open a new idea for it. |

Problem or use case
When a thread has several unrelated linked PRs, the sidebar row and composer footer show the badge as a count:
That tells me a thread has more than one PR but not which ones. The row has plenty of free space next to it. To see the numbers I have to hover for the tooltip or open the PR panel, one thread at a time.
This matters most when scanning the sidebar. I often split one task into several PRs across threads. With counts I can't tell at a glance which thread owns which PR, so I end up hovering row after row.
The tooltip and PR panel do show the identities, so nothing is lost. It just isn't visible when scanning.
Proposed solution
Show up to three PR numbers in the multi-PR badge instead of a count:
Web only, presentation only: no setting, no data or contract change.
Scope
I have a small implementation ready (one component plus its presentation test). It was opened as #19001 without approval and closed, correctly. I'll reopen it with before/after screenshots if the direction is approved.
Open question: would you prefer a cap other than three, or numbers only in the sidebar and the count kept in the composer footer?
