Pinned right side-menu content

While I can see the benefit of having session specific right side-menu content, I often find it annoying that for every session I have to find the file, open the browser, etc.

Also, I may start a service/app in the terminal. It really causes issues then that the terminal panel is tied to the session.

Could we have an option to pin the content, so it stays between sessions?

+1. Same need here. I switch between several threads many times an hour, and each switch replaces the right panel with that thread's own tabs (files, diff, browser), so the file I was reading moves away.

An option to pin the right panel, so it keeps its tabs and its active tab across thread switches, would fix it for me. #16825 and #14040 ask for related defaults for new threads; a pin covers the switch between existing threads too.
