Phoenix Code window frozen

I had been using Phoenix code with no problems until 10 minutes ago when the program window is frozen and unresponsive to my cursor. The top level (File/Edit/View/Window) menu is the only part of the screen that is active. Tried reinstalling the program, same result. Any help is appreciated.

Try restarting the Mac, else, an app hard reset may be needed. To perform a reset, delete the following folder:

rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/io.phcode

Note: This will reset all settings and saved project states.

I tried both of those, and it still happens. I uninstalled Phoenix Code (using Clean My Mac) and reinstalled, and it’s still happening. I’m able to close the splash window that shows when the application first opens, able to respond to the Mac prompt to allow Phoenix to acccess data from other apps, but then the same behavior — unresponsive to everything except the file/edit/view/window menu line.

@dhorowitz001, can you open the dev tools and see if some error is there when you're clicking on the editor. Also it would be good if you can provide a quick screen recording with the dev tools open.

I don’t know how to use the dev tools — can you point me to a quick tutorial on them, or explain here if it’s simple? Thank you.

Just open the Phoenix Code application and press F12 (or if f12 doesn't work, try 'Fn + f12' or 'Cmd + option + i). It will open a window as shown in the image. Yours might be slightly different, as I am on Windows. Press the Console button. Split the Phoenix and the DevTools window half and half on the screen so you can see both windows at the same time. Now try clicking in the Phoenix application and see if any error text (shown in red) appears in the DevTools.

Also make sure that the 'Enable Detailed Logs' option is turned on.

None of the commands you suggested started developer tools, and since the menu within the program window is frozen I couldn’t select the debug option. Any next steps?

Was Phoenix code working before this ? Or was it a recent installation

I installed Phoenix Code about a week and a half ago and was using it with no problems until the freezing issue cropped up. I made no changes to my system prior to it starting to freeze.

Did you try uninstalling and installing it back again?

@devvaannsh Its mac and installation is not there in mac, its just an .app file in mac that is copied. I may need to write a reset script for mac

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, no difference in the behavior, it still freezes with the splash screen displayed and only the top level menu is active.

Apologies, we cannot yet reproduce this issue at our end. I will test this out when we touch the installer scripts later this month.
