If no browser opener is available (SSH/headless), open the printed URL and enter the code manually. Must run before any authed command — others fail with "Not logged in."\n\n**In CI, don\'t run `login` at all — it\'s interactive.** Mint an API key from `/settings/keys` in the browser and export it; `POSTPLAN_TOKEN` takes precedence over the saved config:\n\n```bash\nexport POSTPLAN_TOKEN=glk_... # shown exactly once at mint\nexport POSTPLAN_API_URL=https://… # only if the runner has no ~/.postplan/config.json\npostplan deploy ./dist\n```\n\nA key can deploy, create, fork and move, but **never deletes a site** and never mints or revokes another key — so `postplan delete` will fail with a key exported, by design. `postplan logout` deliberately ignores `POSTPLAN_TOKEN` and acts on your real session; revoke a key from `/settings/keys` instead. Full contract: `packages/api/API.md`.\n\n### deploy\n- `` is the only required arg — it can be a **single file** or a **folder**.\n - **File**: uploads just that file; it renders at the site root (e.g. `postplan deploy report.html`).\n - **Folder**: walks recursively, skipping `.git`, `node_modules`, `.DS_Store`; relative paths become the site\'s layout.\n- `--name` defaults to the **file name (sans extension)** or **folder name**, slugified. Pass `--name` to override (required if the derived name isn\'t a valid slug — lowercase, 3–40 chars).\n- `--space` defaults to your **personal space**. Pass `--space` to target a team/group space.\n- New sites default to `unlisted`, producing a bearer URL anyone can open without a Postplan login. On replacement, omitting `--visibility` preserves the current tier; pass `team`, `members`, `private`, or `unlisted` explicitly only to change it.\n- `--yes` replaces an existing site without prompting. Use it only when the target is already known.\n- `--json` prints one machine-readable result and suppresses progress output.\n- `--include-hidden` includes dotfiles. Review the upload first because these can contain credentials.\n- `--notes ` records a concise deployment change note. `--feedback-batch ` resolves the claimed batch, locks the deploy to its original site and reviewed version, and links the resulting deployment. A conflicting `--space` or `--name` is refused instead of creating a stray site.\n- If the site already exists and you own it, prompts `Replace? (y/N)`. If owned by someone else, it aborts.\n- Prints `✓ Deployed → `.\n- If the server returns `cli_upgrade_required` (HTTP 426), **no upload happened**. Run `postplan upgrade`, then retry the exact deploy command. Do not work around the version gate with curl or a different credential.\n\n**Existing site vs new site.** Treat these as separate, explicit workflows:\n\n- Update an existing URL: `postplan read --pull `, edit that directory, then deploy it. Keep its `.postplan/pull.json` marker.\n- Address a claimed review batch: pass `--feedback-batch `; the CLI targets the reviewed site/version even if the local folder has a different name.\n- Create a new URL: deploy a path with no pull marker and no feedback batch. Its file/folder name (or explicit `--name`) intentionally becomes the new site slug.\n\n```bash\npostplan deploy report.html # → //report in your personal space\npostplan deploy ./dist --space docs --name api-reference --visibility members\npostplan deploy ./call-feedback # folder w/ index.html + audio/*.wav → a page with players\npostplan deploy clip.mp3 # a single audio file → a playable audio page\npostplan deploy explainer.mp4 # a single video file → a playable video page\n```\n\n### Markdown\n\nDeploy a Markdown file directly, or use `index.md` as a folder landing page (`index.html` takes precedence). Nested folders also support `index.md`. Upload referenced images alongside the document using relative paths.\n\nFenced `mermaid` blocks render automatically with a bundled renderer and click-to-enlarge. No CDN or HTML wrapper is needed. Invalid diagrams retain their source. Raw HTML, user scripts, and remote images remain blocked in Markdown.\n\n### Hosting media (audio, video, images, PDFs, fonts)\nA site is just its files, so any static asset in the folder is hosted and served with the correct type — images (png/jpg/jpeg/gif/webp/avif/svg/ico), PDFs, fonts, **audio** (mp3, wav, m4a, ogg, flac, aac, webm), and **video** (mp4, m4v, mov, webm). Reference them from your HTML with **relative paths** and they resolve against the page:\n\n```html\n\n\n\n```\n\n- **Audio and video stream with seeking** — media is served with HTTP byte-range support, so ``** — download the whole site\'s **source** into a local folder so you can edit it and redeploy:\n\n```\npostplan read docs/api-reference --pull ./api-reference # writes every file (source, not rendered) into ./api-reference\n# …edit the files…\npostplan deploy ./api-reference # redeploys to the SAME site (remembers where it came from)\n```\n\n- Writes every file of the site — markdown as its true source, dotfiles included — into ``, plus a small `.postplan/pull.json` marker that records the site and the version you pulled.\n- A later `postplan deploy ` reads that marker to target the same site automatically (no need to re-type `--space`/`--name`) and passes the pulled version so a stale redeploy is safely refused instead of clobbering someone else\'s newer change.\n- Needs edit rights: `--pull` works for a site you **own** or have been given **edit** access to. A view-only share can\'t pull the source.\n\n**Editor round-trip** — if someone shared a site with you as an *editor*, this is the whole loop with no browser and no git:\n\n```\npostplan read alice/roadmap --pull ./roadmap # pull the source (records version, e.g. 7)\n# …add or remove content sections in ./roadmap…\npostplan deploy ./roadmap # redeploys to the same site, sends the pulled version\n```\n\nYou can update that site\'s content even though you don\'t own it and aren\'t in its space. If someone else redeployed since your pull, the deploy is refused as stale (409) — re-run the `--pull` to get the current version, reapply your change, and deploy again.\n\n**Editing etiquette — content, not chrome.** As an editor you own the *content*, not the site\'s look. Add or remove sections, update copy, correct data — but keep the owner\'s styling and layout intact: don\'t restyle, re-theme, change the CSS/structure, or re-lay-out the page. The owner set the design; an editor fills it in. (Renaming, moving, deleting, changing visibility, or editing the title aren\'t yours to do at all — those stay with the owner.)\n\n## Visibility values\n`unlisted` · `private` · `members` · `team`. New sites default to `unlisted`; replacing without `--visibility` preserves the current tier.\n\n`members` = people in the site\'s own space only (it was renamed from `group`; the old value is still accepted and mapped to `members`). `unlisted` = anyone with the unguessable URL, without a Postplan login. The legacy value `public` is still accepted on the wire but maps to `team` (everyone in your org), not to `unlisted`.\n\n## Pages run sandboxed\n\nEvery page gets its own browser sandbox (an opaque origin), like Claude artifacts. `localStorage` and\n`sessionStorage` work but only last as long as the page; cookies and IndexedDB are unavailable. To keep\ndata across visits, use `postplan.db`. Relative `fetch()`, ES module imports and `` links to\nthe site\'s own files work. Two things need a small change:\n\n- Web workers: `new Worker(\'worker.js\')` fails; fetch the script and start it from a Blob URL.\n- Canvas exports (`toDataURL`, html2canvas): load same-site images with `crossorigin="anonymous"`.\n\n`postplan.db` works on pages reached through ordinary links. A page opened by script (`location.href =\n…`) or a GET form loses access; use links between your pages.\n\n## Saving data from your pages — `postplan.db` (experimental)\n\nEach site gets a small JSON document store, and any HTML page you deploy can use it directly —\nno keys, no setup, no script tag. When someone opens the site through the Postplan app, `postplan.db`\nis available to the page\'s JavaScript automatically:\n\n```js\nconst notes = postplan.db.collection(\'notes\')\nawait notes.create({ text: \'hello\' }) // returns {id, data, createdAt, updatedAt}\nawait notes.list() // your documents, newest first\nawait notes.get(id); await notes.put(id, {...}); await notes.delete(id)\n```\n\nSo a deployed page can have a working form, notes list, or per-viewer state with just that.\n(Only when viewed through the app — opening the raw content URL directly gives a clear\n"open this site through the Postplan app" error.)\n\nScripts and cron jobs can write to the same store — exchange a credential for a short-lived data\ntoken. Prefer an **API key** (`/settings/keys`) over lifting the CLI token out of\n`~/.postplan/config.json`: a key is scoped to chosen sites, carries a capability ceiling, expires on\na fixed schedule, and is revocable on its own without killing your session.\n\n```bash\nTOKEN=$(curl -s -X POST -H "Authorization: Bearer $POSTPLAN_TOKEN" \\\n "$POSTPLAN_API_URL/api/data-token//" | jq -r .token) # valid 5 min\ncurl -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" -X POST -d \'{"text":"hi"}\' \\\n "$POSTPLAN_API_URL/api/_data/notes"\n# also: GET /api/_data/notes (list) · GET/PUT/DELETE /api/_data/notes/\n```\n\nTwo things bite when the writer is a server rather than a person:\n\n- **Write to a `shared-…` collection, or you are the only one who will ever see it.** A document\n belongs to whoever wrote it, and the token above is *yours* — so a cron job writing to `metrics`\n fills a collection only you can read, and every teammate\'s dashboard sits empty. `shared-metrics`\n is readable by every viewer of the site. This is the single most common way a server-fed page\n looks broken.\n- **Mint per run, not once.** The token lives 5 minutes; a long job or a daemon must re-mint (a\n 401 means it aged out). Don\'t bake one into an env var or a config file.\n\nRules of thumb: documents are JSON objects up to 100KB, grouped into named collections ·\n**anyone viewing the site can add** documents (attributed to them) — so forms and surveys just\nwork · by default you only see documents **you** created; name a collection `shared-…` and every\nviewer sees all of it (polls, boards) · the site **owner** sees everything and can edit/delete\nany document (moderation); other viewers can never change existing documents · access follows\nthe site\'s sharing — lose access to the site, lose access to its data. If it errors with "not\nenabled", ask your Postplan admin to turn the feature on.\n\n## Live pages — subscribe instead of polling\n\nA page can be **pushed** changes as they happen. Do not write a `setInterval` that re-`list()`s;\nsubscribe:\n\n```js\nconst c = postplan.db.collection(\'shared-metrics\')\n\nconst off = c.onCreate(e => addRow(e)) // e = {type, collection, id, createdBy, at}\nc.onUpdate(e => refresh(e.id))\nc.onDelete(e => removeRow(e.id))\n\noff() // every subscribe returns its own unsubscribe; the connection itself\n // closes only once the LAST subscription on the page is gone\n```\n\n**The event tells you WHAT changed, not the new contents** — there is no document body on it. Call\n`c.get(e.id)` when you need the data. That is deliberate: a push carrying bodies would be a third\nread path, and a replayed backlog would fetch every row.\n\nThis is a live dashboard end to end: a backend writes with the `curl` recipe above and every open\npage reacts — no polling, no refresh button. Delivery is fast (sub-second on a warm site) but it is\nnot a latency guarantee: a first connection, a viewer far from the site\'s region, or a reconnect\nafter a deploy all cost more. Build pages that react to an event whenever it lands, not ones that\nassume it already has.\n\n```bash\n# from a cron job / CI / any server — the page updates itself\ncurl -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" -X POST -d \'{"deploys":42,"ok":true}\' \\\n "$POSTPLAN_API_URL/api/_data/shared-metrics"\n```\n\nWorth knowing:\n\n- **Subscriptions are lazy** — a page that never subscribes never opens a connection.\n- **Reconnects replay.** Connections drop (a Postplan deploy restarts them); the SDK reconnects and\n replays everything missed from its last position before delivering anything live, so a page left\n open overnight is not silently stale. You get each change once, in order.\n- **A push obeys the read rules above, unchanged** — so on a default collection you are only pushed\n your OWN writes. A dashboard everyone watches together needs a `shared-…` collection.\n\n## Diagrams & flowcharts — default to mermaid\n\nFor any flowchart, sequence, architecture, or state diagram, reach for **mermaid FIRST**: it auto-layouts from text — no positions, no React, two lines total. Only step up to React Flow (below) when nodes must be interactive (drag, click handlers, custom node components).\n\n```html\n\n
\ngraph LR\n  CLI[postplan CLI] --> API[main worker] --> R2[(R2)]\n  API --> D1[(D1)]\n
\n```\n\nEvery mermaid diagram type works (flowchart, sequenceDiagram, stateDiagram-v2, erDiagram, gantt…); each `
` on the page renders independently. Syntax reference: https://mermaid.js.org → "Diagram Syntax".\n\nThe dividing line vs hand-written SVG is **auto-layout vs designed geometry**, not size:\n\n- **Mermaid** whenever the visual is a graph of labeled nodes/edges or ordered steps (architecture, flows, sequences, state, ER, dependency maps) — even a 4-box flow. Routing connectors by hand in SVG is where effort goes to die and arrows start overlapping.\n- **Inline SVG** when you want control of the geometry and nothing needs routed connectors: small illustrations, icons, gauges, timelines, badges, decoration. SVG inherits the page\'s CSS variables/palette, so bespoke visuals stay on-design.\n- **Charts stay recharts/d3** (below) — mermaid\'s pie/gantt are weak, and hand-SVG charts are wasted effort.\n\nOn a designed page, theme mermaid to the palette so diagrams don\'t look pasted-in: `mermaid.initialize({ startOnLoad: true, theme: \'base\', themeVariables: { primaryColor: \'…\', primaryTextColor: \'…\', lineColor: \'…\', fontFamily: \'…\' } })` — pull the values from the page\'s CSS custom properties.\n\n## Building React apps (no build step)\n\nServed HTML has no CSP, so a React SPA is just an `index.html` with an import map — no bundler, no npm install. Paste this `` recipe (pinned versions; add/remove libs as needed):\n\n```html\n\n\n\n\n```\n\nThen write normal React in `\n
