Simple question - now that Kepler uses MapLibre, does it still require MapBox tokens to function?

Hi @boxerab. Mapbox styles were reintroduced because many users complained about broken maps and the lack of a satellite style.
We should probably add extra logic in the app config to allow disabling mandatory Mapbox tokens.

right, there are no public instances providing satellite style. Yes, allowing config to disable mandatory Mapbox tokens would be great for users who don't want dependencies on proprietary services. Default tile server could be public instance of https://github.com/hyperknot/openfreemap, although this is OSM vector tiles, not satellite.

Ideally this should be configurable via application-config, but I'm not sure this works as expected atm
