Welcome to CODEPLUGGER — Read This First
Thanks for being here. A few things worth knowing before you dive in.
This is alpha software. It works — I use it myself — but it has bugs, edge cases I haven't found yet, and rough edges throughout. If something doesn't look right in your output, it probably isn't. Trust your eyes over the software.
What this is for. Programming a DMR codeplug from scratch is genuinely tedious. Hunting down repeaters, entering frequencies one by one, assigning talkgroups and timeslots — it takes hours and it's easy to make mistakes. CODEPLUGGER automates that grunt work and gives you a reasonable starting point. That's it. It is not a push-button solution and it's not meant to be.
You still need to know your codeplug. The CPS software, how to edit channels, what talkgroups your local repeaters actually use — that knowledge has to come from you. What this tool gives you is a foundation you can edit, not a finished product you load and forget. If you're new to DMR, the BrandMeister wiki and your local ham club are your best resources.
About the repeater data. The bundled database contains 16,000+ repeaters pulled from RepeaterBook and regional directories. Many of them may be off-air, permanently closed, or have outdated talkgroup information. The status in a database is never as current as asking on your local repeater or checking RepeaterBook directly. Review what the tool gives you and remove anything you know is dead.
Updates will be slow. This is a one-person side project built in spare time. Bug fixes and new features will happen, but don't expect frequent releases. If you find a bug, please open an issue — it genuinely helps, even if a fix takes a while.
What's working well right now:
DMR repeater search across all 50 states (RadioID + BrandMeister)
Analog FM repeater search by state
Hotspot talkgroup selection with 1,700+ talkgroups from the full BrandMeister catalog
Correct Private Call setup for Parrot (TG 9990/310997) — this one trips up a lot of people manually
Import-ready CSV output for the Baofeng DM-32UV CPS
Currently only tested on the DM-32UV. Other radios with similar CPS import formats may work but are untested.
