does aider-desk support .aider.conf.yml and .aiderignore ?

I've been using Aider for almost 2 years now and use it daily and heavily. I'm not happy with the current VScode extensions as they are quite janky, and today I found out about aider-desk which looks very promising.

I've installed aider-desk and the vscode extension as well and now I'm wondering if aider-desk supports reading from my .aider.conf.yml and .aiderignore files that are typically present in every project folder I'm currently working on.

Can you try to uncheck "Add rule files..." (Settings -> Aider) and try "Restart session" action (not restart AiderDesk)?

Add rule files it was. Thanks, when this unchecked - everything works fine.

Also one small detail.

When running aider --version from a command line i get this: __main__.py 0.84.1.dev+less, however in settings/about of aider-desk i get aider version 0.82.3, which is strange.

It does seem like aider-desk has its own aider installation.

Yes, AiderDesk creates its own Python virtual environment with a dedicated Aider installation. I'm currently exploring ways to improve the installation process, and this is one of the discussion points regarding the optimal approach.

Hello, I'm struggling to get .aiderignore to work.
There may be a regression, or if I'm misunderstanding, an opportunity to contribute to the docs to clarify.

AiderDesk: 0.55.0
Aider: 0.86.2

I see a file hide-this.txt in my Project Panel.
With "Filesystem enabled" mode,
If I add hide-this.txt to a local .aiderignore, nothing happens.
If I add hide-this.txt to a local .gitignore, the file is removed (after a project file refresh).

If the file is commited (so it shows up in "Git enabled" mode), neither file works to remove it.

With a cli session of aider 0.86.2, I am seeing .aiderignore work to hide files from aider /ls after they are commited- so I'm confident there isn't a mistake in my syntax etc.

Is this expected?

Hi, .aiderignore is not currently respected in AiderDesk as it's not relying to Aider for getting the files anymore (for some time now). To be clear, the .aiderignore might be respected if you use any of the Aider modes (Code, Ask, Architect, Context) internally by Aider CLI, but it's not reflected in the AiderDesk. I wonder what is the use case, that you need to have the file and files in there instead of having them in .gitignore?

I'm in an unfortunate position at work where a large directory of files (thousands of files) needs to be commited, so .gitignore won't save me, but aider takes some time to build the project map(?). A problem we need to solve with our workflow- it affects other tools too.
