Do the reset scripts require the target IDE to be closed first, or is the built-in force-kill enough? What actually happens if I forget to close it? |

Yes — close the app first, every time. The scripts also force-kill the target's processes (elevated, full tree-kill) as a safety net, so a reset on a live app is not dangerous — but a running app can rewrite identity files between the reset and its own shutdown, which partially undoes the work. The safest sequence is: close the app → run the reset → relaunch and log in fresh. Every write the scripts make is verified by re-reading afterwards, so the audit log will tell you if something got recreated. |
