So, you need to split work between threads as the FPS with this thing is bogus, it's unbelievable that minecraft which is made in java and is a fully fledged game, has better FPS than a zig application. Please work on that.

Can you give any more info? I literally just merged a PR getting me 60 FPS on a MacBook air working on a 4096x4096 file with 12 layers in debug mode, so I'm curious what your system is or what you're experiencing. Also note the application only runs frames when there are events.

So, I get like 40 FPS, Imma try to uses it again sense last time I used it was in a while, also I'm trying to learn dvui here and idk how did you get it to be so the operating system would just count the sidebar with the background with this fancy transparency stuff

I am on arch linux with open source nvidia drivers and a 2013 graphics card though, so maybe it's just that you can't notice that on your machine

If you're going to report these issues I need to know your hardware and what file size, or what actions you're noticing the low FPS, or at least some metric to know where to begin trying to replicate your issue. I've profiled the application and took care of obvious issues and like I said, I'm running at max FPS in debug mode (release is much faster) on a 5 year old laptop.

You aren't I just would like to solve the issue for you, the first step would be trying to build the app in release mode and see if that improves the performance for you at all, and please try latest main as that new PR should improve performance for you greatly

Don't just request open source devs to do stuff like that. I can understand your fustration but it honestly makes zero sense to come off like this. I commend Foxnne's patence.

This likely isn't an issue with your graphics card afaik Pixi isn't compiled with a dvui backend with GPU support. So it's more then likely a CPU issue in that case. There is some actual merit however to having animations being a toggle setting.

It might be worth renaming the issue to provide more clarity? Seems like animations were the key focus here so maybe something like: "Performance issues relating to animations"

On another note. I have tested Pixi on my old thinkbook which is around 10 years old now if I had to guess. It's running Linux Mint and Pixi (release mode) runs with very minimal amounts of fps drops (mostly hitting the max fps). I'll dig through my old junk drawer and see if I can find some outrageously bad hardware just for the hell of it.

I recently implemented this in another DVUI based zig project, and DVUI added support for reduced animations which made this very simple. Will add an issue and tackle this soon
