UI/UX improvements

[vaaleyard]

I'm not a UI person, so I'm not sure if dex current layout is good or not.

If you have any suggestion, like:

• change the place of any information/field;
• add something to the UI;
• improve any keybinding or anything to improve the experience of the user inside dex;
• etc.

please, I'd be thrilled to improve if the community agrees with you.

I like the direction its in! Particularly: the keybindings feel sensible, and the text UI + input field have a comfortable amount of padding.

Feedback:

As a newish user to IRC, I'm confused about the accumulating {gem}.libera.chat list. From an internet search, they are the various libera chat servers - not a channel that can be left.

Q: Is there a current feature to remove/hide the servers from the list? Preferably, I'd only see the channels.

Q: Relatedly, I'm getting a hostname error each session? I am using the same server configuration as the example. If this is expected due to how the connection is implemented atm — a brief explanation in a FAQ would suffice.

[servers.LiberaChat]
address = "irc.libera.chat"
channels = ["#phlcodeclub", "#dexchat"]
port = 6697
ssl = true

# account configuration redacted

Hi @nathanktruong,

Thanks for the feedback, it's probably a bug I hadn't catch. I will fix it in the next release. If you want you can open a bug report, but I've noted here to not forget about it.

About the second question, the message itself is due your usename, you probably haven't registered in libera, but a private message from cadmium.libera.chat is the same problem as above, so it will be fixed as well.

Thanks! I'll fill out the bug report so that current dex users will be aware.
