Initial level is always max brightness

I'm using a Motorola Edge 60 Fusion which works well on all levels, but when toggling from an Off state to any brightness level the light will start at maximum brightness until a different brightness is chosen. This happens in both the app and the Quick Settings panel.

I am pretty sure this is a bug in the app as Flashlight Tiramisu can set a brightness level from the Off state.

Additionally, I have:

• The stock XOS Android Operating system that came preinstalled on my device, the Infinix GT 30 Pro. I have yet to unlock the bootloader or root my device as well.
• Battery saver off.
• Set the Background Battery Usage to "Unrestricted".
• Locked the app in the RAM.
• Ran a DontKillMyApp benchmark (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.dontkillmyapp) for an hour with battery saver off and it returned "100%", meaning 100% of the background process DontKillMyApp tried to initiate weren't killed.
  Please tell me whether this test is sufficient or not, I will run a much longer benchmark if needed.

• Lastly, to the developers and maintainers, please don't feel pressured to fix this immediately and take care of yourselves.

Second of all, sorry for letting you wait for so long, there's a lot going on in life.

Could you help me understand the issue a little better, for example with a simple step-by-step list what you did, how the app behaved and how you expect it to behave instead? That would be helpful!

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to the app, either by launching it normally or long tapping the quick setting tile.
2. Tap on any of the levels or the vertical slider of the slider or the "Minimum", "Half", "Maximum" buttons.

Expected behavior

The flashlight should emit light corresponding to whichever light level was tapped.

Actual behavior

Whichever level was initially tapped, the flashlight always emits maximum brightness.

The flashlight emits the correct brightness only after tapping again on any other level.

You can't tap a level twice to fix this, you have to tap any other light level, then tap the one you want.

Example: In my case, I have 6 levels. If I wanted to emit 1/6 of the brightness, I have to tap on any other level then tap on the most-bottom level of the slider.

The same thing occurs when tapping the "Minimum", "Half", "Maximum" buttons. Tapping "Off" first doesn't make difference either.

Toggling the quick setting tile on and off doesn't make a difference.

I have also tried different combinations of "Preferred light level", "Quick settongs toggle mode", and "Quixk settings toggle link" but none of the combinations made a difference.

Same reproduction steps for me. I'm not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but perhaps you could trick it to work on our phones by quickly changing the brightness programmatically after it's turned on.
