Qubes and mkp224o

Maybe someone can explain to me what I’m doing wrong. I set the onion address to be generated using mkp224o with a prefix of 8 characters. The speed is 12 million hashes. I set the generation in dvm VM. It’s been 5 days now, but the address still hasn’t been generated. Maybe I shouldn’t have done this in dvm? Or are there any special features of onion address generation in Qubes?

Why do you think ыso? According to calculations, this should have happened within 2 days approximately. There is a topic here on how it is calculated.

I’m not sure what turned out to be the solution to the problem in the end, but I eventually created StandaloneQube and already started generation in it. Within two days, I received as many as 4 addresses with a prefix of 8 characters.

I can generate an 8 character prefix within a couple hours on relatively commodity hardware (Ryzen 9 9900X) if using batched mode + amd64-64-24k algorithm, getting roughly 130M keys per second checked. When combined with another similar processor, I was successfully able to generate 10-character prefixes after a couple months of mining.

To answer the original question: there is no guarantee that you'll get your desired prefix in any given amount of time. You can make educated guesses/estimations based on the amount of calc/sec you're getting, but since this is purely luck-based, there's never a 100% guarantee you'll get a result within your desired timespan. You can also get it after 5 minutes of mining (I got some 9-letter prefixes 5 mins after starting mkp224o at one point, which is against all odds).
