• Team Name: Inherit

• Number of Founders: Mr. Bahama, Neha

• Team Background: Mr. Bahama worked in product roles at UMA Protocol, which powers market settlements on Polymarket, and at Across Protocol, one of the most widely used EVM-compatible bridges, utilized for bridging on Uniswap. Neha worked for Deloitte as a developer for blockchain technology.

• Bitcoin & Lightning Involvement: Active users and participants

• Origin Story: I befriended an elderly man seeking a self-custodial way to pass on his Bitcoin without changing his wallet setup, inspired by John McAfee's "dead man switch" concept.

💡 The Idea

• Project Overview: Inherit is a self-custodial Bitcoin recovery solution, enabling users to time-lock their BTC to guard against wrench attacks and quantum threats, with an optional dead man's switch for recovery in case of key loss or unexpected life events.

📅 Top Builder Program Structure

Registration Opens: Monday, October 28th, 2024

• Application: Interested teams apply for Top Builder.
• Selection: Teams will be chosen based on their application. See FAQ for details.

Round 1: January 6th - February 8th, 2025

• Workshops: PlebLab weekly workshops start, available live and online.
• Chat Access: Selected teams join the PlebLab internal chat.
• Mentorship: Begins for teams.
• Project Milestones: Teams are set and judged on their first-round milestones.

Round 2: February 9 - 22nd, 2025

• Team Reduction: PlebLab cuts half of the Top Builder teams. (Only half continued in Round 2.)
• Project Milestones: Teams are set and judged on their second-round milestones.
• Workshops: PlebLab weekly workshops continue.
• Mentorship: Continues.

Round 3: Starting February 23rd, 2025

• Team Reduction: PlebLab narrows down to 5 Top Builder teams. (All will be pitching in Austin.)
• Final Milestones: Teams set final project milestones for the last round.
• Preparation: Teams prepare their pitch in front of judges. Final teams are contacted to come to Austin for Startup Day.

Final Round at Startup Day: March 13, 2025

• Preparation: Teams work on their final pitches at PlebLab.
• Presentations: Final teams present before judges on Startup Day.
• Deliberation: Judges decide during a happy hour.
• Announcement: The winner of Top Builder is announced at Austin BitDevs.
• Celebration: After-party for Top Builder.

Standup- 1/20

Working toward our monthly goal to create a inherit plan for 1 hardware wallet. Inherit will offer 2 types of plans - time safes and fail safes. We are currently focusing on time safes working with ledger.

This contains 2 steps– locking the funds on chain and then generating a spending transaction to use your funds after the time period is up. We have been able to successful do step 1. with with a ledger hardware wallet and we are currently working on getting ledger to handle the spending transaction. The reason there is an issue is because the spending transaction contains a custom script. We are attempting to solve this by registering the policy/descriptor with ledger for this portion: wsh(and_v(v:pk(@0),after())).

We are also working on the design of the UI and by later this week hopefully started on implementation of Frontend.

1/27 Update:

Team is still working through getting existing libraries to work with BDK Wallet 1.0 which isn't trivial. We found a way for users to be able to have a time safe and a fail safe at the same time in order to get full protection from wrench attacks + private key loss. Designs are nearly completed, just polishing up the designs and frontend work will begin next week.

We are able to generate a time lock transaction with a hardware wallet to create a time safe but are still working through the claiming portion post expiry.

2/3 Update:

Desktop App Designs are done, beginning frontend work. Also building designs for the website marketing/landing page. Backend we continue to build out time safes on ledger wallet to protect against wrench attacks.
