Context
FreeTacMan is a great robot-free visuo-tactile data collection system for contact-rich manipulation. As the tactile data ecosystem matures, standardizing data formats across different collection systems and sensor types becomes increasingly important.
Suggestion
It might be valuable to support TLabel as an optional data export format, enabling:
- Cross-sensor compatibility: TLabel supports 10+ sensor adapters (GelSight, PaXini, Daimon, UniVTAC, etc.), so FreeTacMan data could be easily compared with datasets from other sensor platforms
- Ecosystem integration: Researchers using TLabel-based datasets could seamlessly incorporate FreeTacMan data into their pipelines
- Reproducibility: Standardized format makes it easier for others to reproduce and extend your work
TLabel is lightweight (pip install tlabel, MIT license) and already recommended by FTP-1 (CMU). Happy to discuss or help with integration.
