*External benefits of OAS for standards bodies*
- To provide resources to support industry standards groups with API standards to grow their ecosystems by leveraging OpenAPI Specification standards including Overlays and Arazzo
- To provide resources to support OpenAPI ecosystem stakeholders, primarily tools providers and members, to understand other industry standards and to adopt/align with them where possible
*Internal benefits to OAS from standards bodies*
- To build relationships with up to 10 industry standards groups that have specific API standards and encourage alignment with OpenAPI Specification
- To define a membership revenue pathway strategy from industry standards groups and their members to OAI that can be tested from July 2026 for 6 months
The key sectors participants want to work on in 2026 are: banking/finance (including mortgages), telco, Agents/MCP and creating case studies on adoption of OAS amongst other industry standards and with enterprises that act as de facto industry-wide standards, where possible
