convert from dxf to dwg

Greetings All:

I am trying to convert a DXF (exported from Solidworks) to DWG.
I have tried reading in the DXF to a CadDocument using a DxfReader, then passing that CadDocument to a DwgWriter (string, CadDocument).
File is created but an error is thrown when trying to open.

Can anyone whare with me what I may be doing wrong or something else that I need to do to be able to accomplish this task?

To diagnose anything, we need the code you are using to convert the DWG at a minimum. The source drawing you are trying to conver is also very helpful.

So many different applications export "sorta" compliant DXFs, and that causes innumerable problems.

I have the same issue with this file., I did CreateDefaults, file makes it to 12% loading, then throws the same error.

Are there any logs? which software are you using to open the output file?

I am using Autocad 2004 (it is what the client is using).

Is there a means to change the version of the File, I see it shows AC1018, is there a way to test or change that version?
I will see if I can grab the AutoCad logs.

I am converting all of these files to PDF in the end, I see that there is a library AcadSharpPDF, it is in Beta, would it be a direct option to accomplish the task without converting the file?

Answering your questions:

• If you want to change the version you just need to go CadDocument.Header.Version, and select the one that you want.
• ACadSharp.Pdf is in beta, the idea is to develop a library to extract pdfs from a CadDocument, no matter the version.

For you issue, without the file or any more information I cannot ensure that it will be fix any time soon, I'm currently working on an issue that triggers a similar error when I write the file but I cannot guarantee that is the same as yours.
