Hi team,

Looking at the TEMPEST_SF_Monitoring spreadsheet {https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JejdfQ8Z7gbAJKg7PfZlwtEAGXFi0bNJ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117806930206681442954&rtpof=true&sd=true}, I see we have to following active:

C7 (tree id 1439)
C9 (1456),
C10 (1387),
C11 (1395),
C20 (1319)

Is there a candidate for replacing C19, which went offline this January? Let me know if/how I can help!

P.S. This next bit is beyond the scope of this issue, but typing it to help me remember. We should discuss as a project if we want to shift stem flux chambers onto trees with active sapflow sensors. This is really only an issue for ACRU in the Control plot, but is currently a strong divergence from the rest of the TMP design.

@aestearns01 and I talked about this last week, and I think we decided that wiring up a new tree before TEMPEST is desirable but also relatively low priority compared to the other things going on. Alice, is that right?

@bpbond @stephpenn1 please see "new as of 4/29/26" section for updates made to the data stream. You can reference the Monitoring Document "removed sensors" tab for more information. I plugged in the new sensor on a previously unused port (11) in logger 13 so there would be no overlap. Let me know if it all makes sense.

C19 died the latter part of 2024 but I left its sensor in thru 2025 to get any tail-end data. It was removed intentionally 1/7/26

C20 is the replacement for C19 and was installed 3/17/25. We also installed a stem flux chamber (which was moved from C19 around the same time as the SF installation)

NEW as of 4/29/26:

C12 & CD12 were both removed from tree 1328. This tree likely won't make it thru this season with only one lower branch that leafed out. Since C12 sensor was damaged due to rodents, it was decided not to "waste" a new sensor for a couple of months of living data. We did keep the stem flux chamber and will continue to measure this tree for fluxes.

C21 (tree 1339) is the new recruit (replacing C12) and a 3.5 cm sensor was installed 4/29/26

We plan to install a stem flux chamber on C21 in the next week or so

RE: P.S. - C21 is the third new ACRU SF recruit and historically we have always moved the flux chambers to the new SF trees. I think moving forward we will not want to "move" the chamber from any dead tree but instead continue to measure those fluxes for CH4 expected with decomp. And then add additional chambers to any new recruits. Does that make sense??

(Sorry for the slow response.) OK, thank you @aestearns01 ! I have created a new issue in the sensor data pipeline repo to track this, as we'll want to update the design table and metadata for the next release.
